| so like
i felt really shit after the exams, knowing i clearly failed 1 subject, wasn't gonna effect exchange at all but, still feel shit failing though
and forgot about it
went to ski trip with derk angie and john, was pretty kewl, nice time, would do it again but longer, and chuck a nik, 5 or 6 days, and came home to the results
and i found i got ....
3 fails.... wtf?
engineering computing, 45, i think i missed out on a pass on my last matlab test, which is one of them, can't fail things, and so they had to give me a fail mark....
Materials, 44, i think i should've used up more time in my exam, i only used 1.5hrs of the 3hrs available BUT i think the only reason is my handwriting really sucks when i write real quick, and i wrote a shitload real quick too, abit too quick i think, cause by the end of the 1.5hrs i looked through it and seriously couldnm't think of anyhting else to write this was a surprise for me though, but when i look back its most likely the shitty handwriting
and then there was the obvious fail, Maths, i knew i wouldn't pass it but got 45 still, i'm pretty sure i worked for this one alot less than the others, but seeing my marks in my quiz, shows that i would've actually passed if i did more decently in both of them
and that is why i'm gonna be quitting rag next time i'm gonna do 1st semester again, whcih would be 09
after feeling shit from that, looking at the stockmarket and exchange prices, i went to exchange money, aud -> yen for 105.4yen per dollar pretty nice compared the fking gay 52yen per dollar my last exchange, in 2001, but its rising even more =\ best not to be greedy but i was prepared to exchange alot
but since going to the city i pass usyd, and decided ill go grab my official acceptance for tokyo uni it was ready in paper form
there was HEAPS of international students there at the international office, both fob and euro/usa exchange students and then when i grabbed my official papers i noticed
that the pile was pretty big, then thought yea they probably want me to fill out more shit to send to them, which is similar to what i've done before. but on the first page i looked clearly
it said
We are happy to inform you that your scholarship application has been approved, SO we can now welcome you officially to our AIKOM program at the University of Tokyo.
.... so its like, everyone doing this program gets scholarship? thats what its saying right? well fk me yay <3
Monthly amount: 80,000 yen Scholarship period: october 07 - july 08 (10 months) Relocation allowance: 150,000 yen
that really sets me and so that was why i only exchanged HALF the amount i was prepared to exchange into yen, which should be enough for the whole time <3
and i have to arrive ON Monday October 1st, so i'm gonna book a plane for sept30 evening flight out and still attend animania on saturday
and so ups and down
but when i come back, i hope i can convince parents that i can't do semester 2 2008 cause of my fails
and let me stay abit longer, would be cool, see how things go, maybe visit relatives in hk china as well
and start new 2009 sem1

| so its official
this is a pretty good bday present even if this is the only thing i get
Dear Mr. QIU Andrew Cong,
We are happy to inform you that you have been tentatively selected to participate in our AIKOM program and have been nominated as a JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization) scholarship student. Although final selection depends upon the approval of the JASSO scholarship nominations expected around the end of June, we would like to begin preparations to welcome you in this fall.
Visa
In order to enter Japan as a one-year exchange student in the University of Tokyo's AIKOM program, it is necessary to obtain a "ryugaku" ("exchange study") visa. To simplify the procedure, the University of Tokyo is applying on your behalf to the Immigration Office of the Ministry of Justice for the required certificate. In order for us to make this application for you, please send us the following materials by Friday, June 15.
1) Two photographs (40mm x 30mm)
Please send two copies of the same photograph taken within the last six months, torso and full-face. Snapshots are not accepted.
2) Record of past visit(s) to Japan (Please use the attached form)
3) Photocopy of your passport (If your passport is already available)
When the University of Tokyo receives the visa certificate from the Immigration Office, we shall forward it to you as quickly as possible. Then, present this certificate along with other necessary documents to your local Japanese Embassy to obtain your "ryugaku" visa.
Airplane Tickets
Each student accepted for the AIKOM Program should make his/her own travel arrangements, including purchase of tickets, for arrival in Japan on Monday, October 1. Please let us know your arrangements as soon as possible. Those students receiving the JASSO scholarship will be reimbursed 150,000 yen (regardless of the actual price of the airline ticket) a few weeks after arrival in order to offset travel costs. Please do not dispose of your used ticket after arrival. You may be asked to submit it later.
Lodgings
While at the University of Tokyo, you will stay at the University's Mitaka International Hall of Residence, about 40 minutes from the Komaba Campus by bus and train.
The rooms are somewhat small, but they are provided with a bed, desk and chair, a small kitchen, and shower. The basic rent is about 9,700 yen a month.
Orientation
Orientation will be held after your arrival. At this time please bring two photographs of yourself (40mm X 30mm). You should also bring some (probably four) additional photographs of the same size for other registration purposes.
Other Information
The Academic Program for 2007-2008 and some additional information will be sent to you later (probably after the end of August).
If your present address (also telephone, fax and e-mail) changes, please inform the AIKOM Office of the new address as soon as possible.
We will get in touch with you again soon. We look forward to seeing you in October.
Yours sincerely, (Prof.) John Boccellari
Director, AIKOM Program
